Rent impacts southside business growth [Video]

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — ‘Growing and expanding your personal brand,’ that is the goal of many local businesses, but according to an established coffee shop owner who wants to expand to the city’s Southside, the price tag is just too much. 

When you walk into The Coffee Mugg, the atmosphere is spell-binding. It’s also where you’ll find local muggle and owner Susana Almaguer, who wants to eventually take her business to the city’s Southside. 

“I would love you know, better parking, possibly a drive thru and maybe even a patio,” Almaguer said. 

She said that while she appreciates her current building, there are a couple of drawbacks. 

“Parking is very limited and it’s very tight,” she said. “The homeless; we do have a lot of homeless that come in here.”
