South Carolina: Missing tourist Stanley Kotowski [Video]

A Massachusetts family is in distress as they face several days of searching for their missing husband and father, Stanley Kotowski, who vanished while on vacation at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island.”We love him and we miss him. We just want him to come home. You’re not in trouble, Dad. We love you,” said his son, Zak Kotowski.Kotowski, 60, was last seen the morning of Aug. 16 leaving the familys vacation rental at 226 S. Sea Pines Drive, shoeless and without his phone. He just walked out the door. He had really bad insomnia for about a month. He doesn’t have dementia. His anxiety just kept getting worse and worse and worse and he started to get a little paranoid,” said his wife, Jackie Kotowski. The Beaufort County Sheriffs Office has mobilized a substantial search effort, deploying canines, drones and helicopters to locate Kotowski. The search has so far yielded no leads, heightening the family’s fears as they continue their desperate plea for help.Stanley Kotowski is described as having a thick Boston accent. We just want him to come home, Jackie Kotowski said. We need help from anybody who can assist us in finding him. If anyone has information regarding Stanley Kotowskis whereabouts, they are encouraged to contact the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office.

KC Pet Project rescues 31 animals from Kansas City home [Video]

Officials with KC Pet Project say 31 animals have been rescued from “inhumane” and “deplorable” conditions at a property in the Historic Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City. The Animal Services Division pulled eight ducks, six roosters, eight hens, eight cats, and one pigeon from a property after responding to complaints from neighbors about potential neglect.Officers found the property littered with trash, animal carcasses, and dead birds. The living animals on site were found with inadequate housing, no access to water, no ventilation, and obvious signs of neglect.”These circumstances are not only inhumane but also in violation of the city code,” KC Pet Project officials said in a post on Facebook. The property owner made the decision to surrender the animals to KCPP. Animal services will be issuing citations to the owner for multiple violations including failure to provide adequate care. Officials also said this owner has outstanding warrants related to prior animal-related offenses. After the animals were rescued, one duck had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries, and one kitten died. Several of the cats pulled from the property are sick and receiving medical attention. “We are grateful to our officers who continued to investigate this case and glad to have these animals in our care now, where they will receive the attention and love they deserve,” said Tori Fugate, chief communications officer at KC Pet Project. In addition, officials said the work is not done at the property. Some of the animals on the property could not be captured, so officers will continue to return to try and rescue the remaining animals. While KCPP has found placement for most of the birds, there are roosters that are available for adoption. “We set up little pools of water for the ducks and it was a heartwarming scene to see them immediately jump into the water to clean themselves off,” Fugate said. “This case is another example of why it is important to report any suspected cases of animal neglect to help us protect animals who cannot speak for themselves.”
