Flushing families concerned by plans to move library in 2025 | Local [Video]

FLUSHING, Mich. (WJRT) – The Flushing Area Library is getting a new home.

The city announced this week that it has acquired a new property for the library to separate it from the senior center downtown. Plans to move the library have been in the works for months, but some residents don’t want to see it go.

“The library itself is really in the center of the city right now,” said Hannah Tyler.

Tyler enjoys taking her family to the library. She likes that it is located right downtown amidst the center of the city.

“You know, you can walk to the playground. You could walk to the juice shop. There’s the bakery. There’s a couple restaurants in town,” she said.

The change would move the library about 0.8 miles away from where it is currently located to the corner of Boman and Chamberlain Streets near the city offices. Mayor …
