VERONA, Miss. (WTVA) — A woman claims someone shot her dog three times in the head in Verona.

Jamie Taylor said her rescue terrier Stacy was found dead near the Subway restaurant Monday night, Dec. 9.

She lives in the city limits on Palmetto Road, which is just down the street from the business.

Taylor said the dog liked to roam Palmetto Road but usually stayed relatively close to home.

She last saw Stacy alive on Monday afternoon when she let the dog outside to use the bathroom.

Taylor described Stacy as sweet, and her children loved the dog.

“They are not my animals, they are an extension of me,” she said. “Stacy was my…that’s my daughter. She’s been my daughter and I’ve lost a piece of me.”
