BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A local faith-based nonprofit is mobilizing to help with hurricane relief efforts on the East Coast.
Bakersfield-based CityServe announced Wednesday the sending of two brand new, John Deere skip loaders with attachments and two equipment trailers to Chimney Rock, North Carolina. The equipment, valued at $250,000, was made possible thanks to Kern Machinery and other generous supporters.
CityServe says crews will use the equipment to clear roads of fallen trees and debris, including cleaning up homes and businesses.
CityServe says it has sent over $5,000,000 in emergency relief supplies and has provided about 6,000 meals a day to the hardest hit regions of western North Carolina, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene.
