LAURENS, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – The Laurens Commission of Public Works (CPW) has raised flags in honor of the five states who have sent linemen to South Carolina to help with debris pick-up and restoring power after outages.
The flags were raised in front of the Laurens Commission of Public Works Building as a gesture of gratitude to the linemen who have left their homes to work to restore power in the Upstate.
General Manager for CPW, John Young, said, “We’re a small utility, we’ve got ten linemen on staff and three bucket trucks; and if we were forced to do this by ourselves, we wouldn’t have power till next year.”
The state flags for North Carolina, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, and Ohio are represented.
