YES Days teaches students about STEM careers in the Mid-Ohio Valley [Video]

MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) -The Washington State College of Ohio held their annual “YES Days” event for students in the mid-Ohio Valley to learn about Engineering, Science, and Technology.

The students visited the Engineering and the Arts and Sciences buildings to watch presenters explain their roles in their field.

Joseph Hughes, Research Engineer at Kraton Polymers, said the event brings many opportunities for students and businesses.

The event featured 30 presenters to teach kids about STEM careers and why they are vital to the community. One presenter from Robert’s Funeral Home taught kids about embalming tools and how they work. Another presenter from Marietta College brought in an inflatable planetarium to teach the students about astronomy.

Hughes said it’s important for kids to learn about STEM careers early.

The event hosted 700 students in total.
