Trial starts next week for man accused in deadly robbery of Texas veteran [Video]

Documents allege that three people worked together to kill Warren Rogers and steal his debit card and electronic devices.

TYLER, Texas — Editor’s Note: The above video aired in August 2023. 

Herbert Simpson, 56, is one of three charged with capital murder in 2023 shooting death of Warren Rogers, 61, of Tyler, in his home in the 1600 block of W. Mims St. Stephanie Brasher and Anthony Taylor are also charged for their involvement in the death. 

Jury selection will be held Monday and the trial will continue through the week. 

Documents allege that they worked together to kill Rogers and steal his debit card and electronic devices. An arrest affidavit states DNA evidence from blood and a Dr. Pepper bottle at the scene led investigators to arrest Simpson, Brasher and Taylor.
