IN AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WE ARE HEARING FROM THE ALAMANCE BURLINGTON SCHOOL SYSTEMS NEWLY NAMED SUPERINTENDENT AS HE GETS READY FOR HIS FIRST OFFICIAL DAY ON THE JOB. JOSHUA DAVIS IS IN ALAMANCE COUNTY WITH THE SUPERINTENDENTS VISION FOR THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. IF THERES ANY WAY TO SUM UP THE SUPERINTENDENTS VISION, ITS ALL ABOUT MAINTAINING TRANSPARENCY AND BUILDING UP TRUST IN ALAMANCE BURLINGTON SCHOOLS WITH PARENTS AND STUDENTS. AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO THE COMMUNITY AND TALK TO OUR PARENTS AND LET THEM KNOW THAT WERE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR THEIR STUDENT. WITH OVER 20 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC EDUCATION, DOCTOR AARON FLEMING IS SET TO STEP UP AS THE ALAMANCE-BURLINGTON SCHOOL SYSTEMS NEW SUPERINTENDENT. FLEMING SAYS HE WAS AWARE OF THE FINANCIAL AND FACILITY RELATED CHALLENGES THE DISTRICT FACED BEFORE HE APPLIED FOR THE POSITION. FORTUNATELY, WERE PAST MOST OF THOSE ISSUES. WE STILL HAVE SOME THINGS, CERTAINLY TO FIX, BUT I THINK WEVE GOTTEN THROUGH THE WORST OF IT. ONE OF HIS BIGGEST GOALS IS TO REACH OUT TO PARENTS AND BUILD BACK THEIR TRUST IN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM. TALKING AND COMMUNICATING WITH OUR PARENTS, HAVING COMMUNITY FORUMS, HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO MEET THEM WHERE THEY ARE POSSIBLY GOING OUT TO WORK SITES, POSSIBLY HAVING SOME MEET AND GREETS WITH PARENTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AND DEVELOP THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ABSCESS AND LOCAL LEADERS. SCHOOL DISTRICT CANNOT RUN WITHOUT LOCAL DOLLARS AND THOSE LOCAL DOLLARS COME FROM OUR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, AND SO IVE GOT TO BE OPEN WITH THEM AND BE OPEN WITH OUR COUNTY MANAGER SO THEY KNOW WHATS GOING ON IN OUR SCHOOLS. HE SAYS HES ALREADY HIT THE GROUND RUNNING. WHAT IM DOING RIGHT NOW IS MEETING OR VISITING EVERY SCHOOL IN THE DISTRICT, ALL 38 SCHOOLS, AND THEN AFTER THAT IM GOING TO MEET ONE ON ONE WITH THOSE PRINCIPALS, REALLY TO LOOK AT WHAT THEIR GOALS ARE, WHAT THEIR STRUGGLES ARE, AND WHAT IT IS I CAN DO TO HELP THEM. AND HE SAYS HE HAS EVERY INTENTION OF LIVING UP TO THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS MOTTO OF BEING STUDENT CENTERED AND FUTURE FOCUSED. WE WANT THEM TO GO DO GREAT THINGS. WE WANT THEM TO COME BACK HOME TO ALAMANCE COUNTY. BUT EVEN IF THEY DONT, WE WANT THEM TO BE VERY PROUD OF BEING AN ABSCESS GRADUATE. FLEMING ALSO TELLS ME HES WORKING ON WAYS TO OPEN UP THE DISTRICTS FINANCIAL DATA, AND CLASSROOMS TO THE COMMUNITY, SO PARENTS CAN BE MORE AWARE OF DISTRICT LEADERS DECISIONS AND THEIR EFFECTS. IN ALAMANCE COUNTY.
