Paul O’Grady had ‘heavenly’ experience in final TV show before death [Video]

Paul O’Grady was moved when he had a special bonding moment with an endangered animal before his death aged 67.

The final show the Lily Savage star filmed before he died from sudden cardiac arrhythmia syndrome was ITV documentary Paul O’Grady’s Great Elephant Adventure, which is airing over the Easter weekend.

The animal-lover, who famously presented For the Love of Dogs and donated £550,000 to Battersea Cats and Dog Home in his will, had a ‘heavenly’ experience with an elephant in the upcoming show.

The two-part series follows O’Grady as he travels through Thailand and Laos to celebrate the wonderful work done by elephant conservation centres.

At one, Great Elephant Adventure’s co-executive producer Clare Barton recalled: ‘One of my abiding memories is of Paul encircled by a herd of excited mature elephants, mud splattered on his face and clothes, laughing as he was almost knocked to the ground before being given an elephant’s tail hug.
