Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews were able to quickly extinguish a fire that started in a recreational vehicle and damaged two nearby homes Friday afternoon.
LFR Battalion Chief Eddie Mueller said the department received reports of heavy smoke near 30th and U streets at about 12:45 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered a trailer trailer in a driveway engulfed in flames. Firefighters managed to quickly put out the fire, but it damaged two nearby homes, Mueller said.
People from both homes were evacuated, but the exact headcount was unknown.
LFR spokesperson MJ Lierman said a space heater inside the trailer ignited, quickly engulfing it and causing flames to spread to the two houses
