North Carolina bus operator in Birmingham accepting storm donations [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – Residents in western North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Helene are still in desperate need of supplies.

A charter bus from Charlotte is in Birmingham and the bus operator is hoping to bring donations back to her home state.

“I think that’s what God created us for, to help each other,” said Maryann Johnson, Broach Coach Tours bus operator.

Johnson transported a group from North Carolina to Birmingham for a work conference this week and wants to do her part in helping those devastated by Hurricane Helene.

“As I was sitting with nothing to do today, I said ‘Wait a minute. I’m going back to Charlotte, North Carolina,’” she explained. “Watching the news, I saw people wanted to get things to the affected areas, I said ‘I have an empty bus, up under luggage bays that are just there.‘”
