Milford Childhood Learning Center celebrates grand opening [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Finding childcare isn’t always easy, that’s why a grandmother, and businesswoman, in Milford decided to put together a non-profit childcare center in the community.

The idea started after her daughter couldn’t find a local daycare for her 11-month-old. That was about a year ago and on Sunday, they will be celebrating the grand opening of that center.

It’s called the Milford Childhood Learning Center. The executive director, Kathi Schildt, said thanks to the help of the community they were able to get the ball rolling for the building almost immediately.

Schildt said she knew she had to tackle the childcare insecurity in Milford when her own daughter had to enroll her two grandchildren in two daycares in different towns.

With no viable solution available, that’s when Schildt said she did some digging.
