Marshall Point lighthouse to be closed all summer due to damage [Video]

The iconic Marshall Point Lighthouse in Port Clyde will not open to the public this season.The Marshall Point Lighthouse & Museum announced this week that, due to damage to the walkway caused by the back-to-back storms in January, they cannot safely open. That closure includes the walkway and lighthouse tower.Officials say they hope to make repairs in the fall. There are signs posted and officials are stressing that people should not try to get onto the walkway.The museum will still be open on weekends in May. Starting on May 4, it will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. The lighthouse property includes the light tower, walkway, restored 1880s Keeper’s House, summer kitchen, recently reconstructed late-19th-century barn and the original oil house.The lighthouse is one of the most famous in Maine and has been featured in many commercial photo shoots as …
