SAN DIEGO COUNTY, Calif.
In a December 20 decision, both Butler and one of his victims Michelle Renee were in tears.
Renee was a single mother of a 7-year-old child and the manager of a Bank of America branch in Vista when she was held hostage in her home in November 2000 and was forced to steal $360,000 from her work.
If she didn’t, Butler told her, she and her daughter would die by the dynamite strapped to their backs.
Butler was one of three men to break into their home the night before the heist. Robert Ortiz and Christopher Huggins were also imprisoned for their roles in the incident. The three men duct-taped the mother and daughter, holding them captive in their home for 14 hours before the Nov. 22, 2000 heist.
