Man arrested over death of housemate, as rampage leads police to alleged murder scene at Cowandilla in Adelaides west [Video]

A 32-year-old man is under police guard in hospital after allegedly murdering his housemate in Cowandilla, in Adelaide’s western suburbs.

The death of his 60-year-old housemate was only discovered after police searched their house following a series of alleged break-ins on Tuesday morning.

The man allegedly smashed the windows of a number of nearby businesses, including a Subway restaurant and a Drakes supermarket on Henley Beach Rd at Torrensville about 12.30am.

Security alarms activated during the rampage alerted police to the murder suspect, who was found at the scene with an injured leg, arrested, and taken to hospital for treatment.

It was only during a subsequent investigation that police went to the 32-year-old man’s home on Harley St, where the 60-year-old man’s body was then found.
