KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Years of planning will begin paying off this week.
Kansas City announced it plans to begin delivering thousands of new 65 gallon trash carts to residents on Wednesday, May 1.
The Kansas City Council approved $8.5 million to buy 162,000 trash carts last year. They expect the new carts to help manage trash and litter across the city. The carts will also prevent animals from ripping into plastic trash bags and allowing trash to blow through neighborhoods. Public Works also indicated the move will increase the effectiveness of track pickup, improve service delivery and reduce employee injury and staff turnover.
All sanitation trucks the city uses to pick up trash are automated to help crews empty trash into trucks.
