House passes bill that could lead to TikTok ban [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill Wednesday that would ban TikTok from operating in the United States, unless it separates from its Chinese parent company.

Lawmakers have renewed efforts to crack down on the video app, citing national security concerns.

The future of the platform is still unclear for its 170 million users.

“A couple of years ago, I started TikTok, just to help people realize their own potential,” said Paris Fletcher, an Atlanta entrepreneur who uses the platform to share affirmations and motivation.

Now with more than 200,000 followers, she credited TikTok with launching her company Full Bloom in 2022.

“People said ‘Hey, if you sold these affirmation cards or sold these journal prompts, I would buy it.’ So, I was like, why not? Let me put these tools out there,” explained Fletcher.
