Connect for success in Colorado Springs helps foster children graduate from school [Video]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Foster kids in the state of Colorado have an on time graduation rate of 30%.

A local program here in Colorado Springs is working to change that statistic. According to the Colorado Department of Education in the 2021-22 school year only 180 students in Out-of-Home placement graduated from school and only 30% of foster youths graduate high school on time. A foster parent, Jackie Brochu who has been a foster parent for more then two decades says shes thankful for the Connect for Success program which helped one of her foster children graduate from high school.

That Forster child graduate is Dalila Antúnez Calderón says English isn’t her first language, so she struggled in school because of it. She told 11 News she struggled in school until she entered in the Connect for Success program where they explained the school work on her level. She …
