Cause announced for fire in southeast Colorado Springs hoarding house [Video]

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – A fire in a hoarding house, which resulted in one person being injured and a dog having to be rescued, has been ruled accidental.

Firefighters were dispatched to a house on Sorrento Drive just before noon on March 22 for thick smoke coming from the structure. The neighborhood is near Chelton and Fountain in southeast Colorado Springs

“We got a call from a neighbor in the area,” said Colorado Springs Fire Department spokesperson Ashley Franco.

Before firefighters even pulled up to the scene, they saw heavy smoke coming from the street.

“They immediately called a working structure fire before they got here,” Franco said.
