The former site of the I-80 Speedway is now home to a different type of auto business.
Insurance Auto Auctions, a publicly traded company based in Chicago, announced Wednesday that it has turned the site at the Greenwood exit into an auto auction complex.
IAA, which facilitates the marketing and sale of damaged and low-value vehicles, finished construction of a complex on the former speedway site in September.
The auction company hired Integrate, a construction company, last December to complete the $10 million project, according to a news release from the construction company.
The speedway, which held its final races in October 2022, opened in 1994 and was eventually acquired by the Kosiski family in 2004. The family decided to sell the NASCAR-sanctioned dirt track in 2021.
