Adopt an Airman holds a weekend event [Video]

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)—Adopt an Airman is holding a special event this weekend.

The Military Affairs Committee and the Cheyenne Chambers of Commerce established the Adopt an Airman program to allow community members to host airmen away from home.

“The airmen have a sense of home, have a place to be able to explore new recreational activities and develop friendships, and host families have the opportunity to learn more about what it’s like to be an airman and what the mission of F.E. Warren Air Force Base is in defending our country,” said Carolyn Ritshard, Director of Adopt and Airman.

Officials say this program helps build relationships through community engagement for airmen new on base for their first assignment.

The program matches airmen and host families based on interests like outdoor activities, games, and more.
