As the consistent cold settles in, it might be a good time to check your plumbing and heating systems. They might not be able to handle the freezing air.

H. Jack Langer Plumbing and Heating has been in business for nearly five decades. That means they’ve experienced a lot of Erie winters. 

Their president, H. Jack Langer, said this winter is one of the worst.

They have had a lot of calls over the last few weeks.

“It’s tough on our employees because we’re 7/24, Monday through Sunday,” he said.

“A lot of the fellas aren’t with their families on the holidays and what have you trying to keep all the furnaces up and running.”

Many problems, Langer said, can be prevented. 

He recommends clearing snow out from around your furnace vent and checking batteries in your thermostat.
