Good Samaritan rescues man from burning car in Ansonia [Video]

ANSONIA, Conn. (WTNH) — A good Samaritan jumped into action and helped save a man from a burning car after a crash on Monday in Ansonia.

“We heard what sounded like screeching,” Carlos Rodriguez of Ansonia said. “Then, a bang.”

Rodriguez didn’t hesitate to act. The EMT with Nelson Ambulance had just returned home from work when this all unfolded.

“I ran outside and told my girlfriend to call 911,” he said in an exclusive interview with News 8.

Ansonia police said the crash happened at the corner of Kingston Drive and East Main Street. On Thursday, they released a new surveillance video showing the car jumping a curb, taking out a tree, and slamming into a parked car.

“There was nothing but airbags and smoke,” said Rodriguez. “I was yelling out, hey! Is anyone else in there? Are you okay? Can you make it out of the vehicle?”
