Truck crashes into southwest Houston home, flees scene [Video]

Glass, toys and books are still scattered all around the room, but a family picture with Hope Ngmuezi’s late wife in it is still on the wall next to the boys’ beds.

HOUSTON — Part of Hope Ngumezi’s southwest Houston home is now boarded up after a vehicle crashed into it Thursday night.

“It felt like it was an earthquake or explosion and then, you know, my house starts shaking. And then from there, I just jumped up,” said Hope Ngumezi.

Ngumezi said he went straight to his kid’s room.

“A big white, work truck inside my kid’s room,” said Ngumezi. “So, from there, you know, my first reaction was to get my kids out.”

He said the truck was right next to his 4-year-old and 6-year-old’s beds.

“My oldest sleeps here and my youngest sleeps right here,” said Ngumezi. “So, when I squeezed between the door, I was able to come right here and I grabbed my first …

He has coached for over 35 years as a Head Basketball and Baseball Coach as well as a varsity assistant in Football, at Las Vegas and Utah. Steve is so dedicated to his students, he attends most home games as many sports and activities as he can! He is retired from coaching but works at all home football games as the head chainsman. He also works all home basketball keeping stats and the scorebook. Steve has 5 children and 13 grandchildren.
