13 CRIME FILES: Moxxy Forensic Investigations and the part it plays in Southern AZ [Video]

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – “These are all people that have people that are looking for them, who want to get them home and they just don’t know that they’re an unidentified body somewhere,” says Moxxy Investigative Genetic Genealogist Katie Thomas.

A non-profit called Moxxy Forensic Investigations is committed to using genealogy to help solve some of the country’s mysteries, many right in our southern Arizona backyard.

They are currently working on a John Doe case of a man who is now known to them as “Victoriano,” found in 2004 near Sasabe.

Then came some help from Melissa Stevens.

“Melissa’s DNA kit was uploaded to GEDmatch and she is one of our higher matches to our Victoriano John Doe and so I reached out to her and asked for her assistance in just kind of understanding her family tree,” says Moxxy Investigative Genetic Genealogist Kaycee Connelly.
