WVDOH crews clean I-64 drain after storm-related flooding [Video]

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – One side of the drain is cleared while the other side is filled with mud and grass on part of Interstate 64. Crews with the West Virginia Department of Transportation can be seen clearing that drain on the eastbound side of I-64.

Kanawha County emergency management said another area of I-64 heading west, just before the I-64 and I-77 split, was shut down due to water covering the road.

Courtney Smith lives in Elkview, she said she saw the water begin to back up on her way home from work.

“It was the ones she saw on social media where there was a tractor-trailer driver driving through Charleston and it was the other lane coming into Charleston completely flooded. I have never seen it like that at all,” Smith said. People who live down in Charleston, my sister is one of them, showed me videos. It was pretty wild.”
