Renowned dancer, teacher and local activist Edwina Guckian has posted a video featuring children from the Áirc Damhsa Dance Club as they welcome the start of the summer season while also showcasing their wonderful dance moves and the stunning scenery of Lovely Leitrim.
Commenting on the video she posted online Edwina said, “It is said that on the first day of May many years ago, a mist descended on the Iron Mountain of Sliabh an Iarainn in County Leitrim and from that mist came the Tuatha Dé Danann. They ruled Ireland for over 400 years and when their reign was over they vanished back into the other world of Sliabh an Iarainn.
“At our dance club we regularly hear about traditions and the way people used to dance years ago vs today. One child questioned why we only ever hear about the dancers from a 100 or more years ago? …
