Tucson leaders update homeless situation as some question tactics [Video]

TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – It’s a common question amongst community members and city leaders – what is a strong solution to solve homelessness and transition more people into housing?

“I wish I had the solutions,” said community member Stefanie Gershon. “I wish I knew what could be done.”

The city council and mayor met on Aug. 6 for their study session – in the meeting, officials gave an update on the current state of homelessness in the City of Tucson.

One significant change is that the number of unsheltered people slowly went down since the beginning of the year – from 1,501 to just under 1,300.

City of Tucson Assistant City Manager, Liz Morales, says the city has been working on homeless mitigation for years.
