The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said one of the victims of a deadly shooting at a residence was a teacher from Westside High School.Deputies responded to a domestic violence incident near 143rd Street and Meadows Parkway just before 3 a.m. Monday morning.Police said two people are dead after the incident.Previous coverage: Domestic violence call leads to an officer-involved shooting that left 2 people dead in Sarpy CountySarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis said they received a 911 call from someone in the home saying that her father shot her mother and was still armed.Responding officers were alerted that deputies had responded to the house about a month earlier and had followed up for mental health issues.When deputies arrived at the scene, someone inside the home fired at law enforcement, and one of the deputies returned fire, authorities said.Deputies were then able to gain entry to the home. The man, identified as 44-year-old Rory Geiger, was found deceased, but officers still started life-saving measures to “no avail,” Davis said.The woman killed in the shooting was identified as his wife, 45-year-old Rebecca Geiger, Davis said. Geiger was a teacher at Westside High School.The district said Geiger’s “kindness radiated throughout the school; helping students feel seen and valued.””She cared about her students and made sure they felt a sense of belonging and she did it well,” Westside Community Schools said in a statement.The district said their crisis response team will be available all week to assist students and staff.Davis said that five deputies were on the scene and are on administrative leave at this time. A grand jury will be convened to review the shooting, which is standard procedure.
