Subpoena reveals what investigators demanded in Fernandes Anderson case [Video]

5 Investigates obtained federal documents that provide new details in the case against embattled Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson.The documents detail everything Boston City Hall workers were required to turn over to a grand jury related to the councilor.Fernandes Anderson was arrested earlier this month by the FBI at her home in Dorchester. She was indicted by a federal grand jury and is accused of taking a $7,000 kickback from a relative she hired.According to court documents, the two allegedly exchanged cash in a bathroom at City Hall.In the federal subpoena sent to Boston City Hall back in September, investigators demanded the following information:- All electronic communications sent and received by Fernandes Anderson and her staff from 2022 to September 2024- All records relating to Fernandes Anderson and her staff’s compensation, salary, bonuses, stipends, expenses and/or travel reimbursement, work performance and hiring- All records and information relating to nondisclosure agreements her staff signedFernandes Anderson pleaded not guilty to five federal counts of wire fraud and one federal count of theft concerning programs receiving federal funds.

It has now been 13 years since the disappearance of a Maine toddler whose case captivated the state and the nation.Ayla Reynolds was 20 months old when she was last seen in Waterville on Dec. 16, 2011.The girl was staying with her father, Justin DiPietro, at his mother’s home when she was reported missing.DiPietro told police his daughter was abducted, but investigators later discovered Ayla’s blood in the basement. Investigators said there was so much of Ayla’s blood in the basement, that they determined she could not have survived whatever happened to her.No one has been charged in connection with Ayla’s presumed death, but police said the three adults in the home were not being forthright. Those three people were DiPietro; his sister, Elisha DiPietro; and his girlfriend at the time, Courtney Roberts.DiPietro’s mother, Phoebe DiPietro, was not at her home the night her son reported her granddaughter had been abducted.Trista Reynolds, Ayla’s mother, decided to file a civil lawsuit against Justin DiPietro in December 2018 more than a year after their daughter had been declared legally dead. Reynolds hoped the wrongful death lawsuit would help her learn what happened to her daughter.In 2022, Trista Reynolds was allowed to expand her wrongful death lawsuit to include DiPietro’s sister and mother.Maine’s Total Coverage learned in September that a settlement to the civil lawsuit was filed in April. Specific terms of the settlement are not public and confidentiality agreements prevent any of the parties involved from discussing any details.Police have said they continue to work this case and are still asking anybody who has any information to call the Maine State Police.Related content:
