Jefferson Parish residents affected by Hurricane Francine are now eligible for FEMA assistance. Businesses are also eligible for small business disaster loans. This comes one day after Kenner announced residents and businesses were now eligible for assistance. The city of Kenner is still working on clarifying the process for the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program application and establishment of the Disaster Recovery Center and says it should be solidified by next week. We have been persistent on our calls with Jefferson Parish Emergency Management, and our own Emergency Operations team has met with state and federal agencies within city limits to prove Kenner needs recovery assistance from Francine. I am thrilled for Kenners residents and business owners to now have access to these resources, said Mayor Mike Glaser.When the original announcement was made by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Kenner and Jefferson Parish were left off the assistance eligibility, despite being heavily impacted by flooding from the storm.Assistance for eligible survivors can help with serious needs, displacement, temporary lodging, basic home repair costs, personal property loss or other disaster-caused needs. Also, low-interest disaster loans from the U. S.
