BIT. JACK. LIZ. ALL RIGHT. TYLER, CHECK THIS OUT. A STORM CHASER CAUGHT THE FEROCITY OF HURRICANE MILTON AS IT MADE LANDFALL LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT. THIS IS SARASOTA, FLORIDA. JUST A FEW MILES FROM WHERE THE HURRICANE MADE LANDFALL IN SIESTA KEY. THE DESTRUCTIVE STORM HIT THE PENINSULA WITH MAXIMUM WINDS OF OVER 100MPH. HEAVY RAIN BROUGHT FLASH FLOODING AND A VERY DANGEROUS STORM SURGE THERE. THERE WERE REPORTS OF BOATS TOSSED AND OVERTURNED, ALONG WITH HOMES AND BUSINESSES HEAVILY DAMAGED. AFTER THE FORCE OF MILTON. AND THAT SHOWS WHY THIS NEXT STORY IS SO IMPORTANT AS RECOVERY EFFORTS ARE UNDERWAY FOR BOTH HURRICANES HELENE AND MILTON, FOLKS FROM OUR REGION ARE NOW STEPPING UP TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. NBC5S BENNY NEZAJ SHOWS US HOW ONE NORTHERN NEW YORK CHURCH IS GIVING BACK. WHEN WE SAW THE PICTURES OF WHAT FIRST HURRICANE HELENE HAD DONE TO THE SOUTHEAST, AND NOW WHAT MILTON IS DOING TO FLORIDA, WE FELT VERY COMPELLED TO CHIP IN AND SHOW OUR SUPPORT TO ALL THOSE IMPACTED. REVEREND JOHN SAMPSON OF KEENE VALLEY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH IS MAKING SURE FOLKS WHOVE BEEN HIT HARD BY THE RECENT HURRICANES HAVE THE BASIC NECESSITIES. THE CHURCH IS LOOKING TO COLLECT HYGIENE KITS WITH THE FOLLOWING ITEMS. SOME OF WHICH INCLUDES ONE GALLON ZIPLOC BAGS, AS WELL AS TOOTHBRUSHES AND BARS OF SOAP. IN ITS ORIGINAL PACKAGES. THE KITS WILL BE SENT THROUGH CHURCH WORLD SERVICE, WHICH WILL THEN BE DISTRIBUTED OUT TO THOSE IN NEED. SAMPSON SAYS ITS IMPORTANT TO HELP OUT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. TO BE ABLE TO HAVE JUST THE BASIC HYGIENE NEEDS AT THAT MOMENT, NOT WAITING TWO WEEKS FOR FUNDS TO BE DISTRIBUTED, BUT RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT THAT YOURE IMPACTED IS SO IMPORTANT. AND EVEN FROM THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY, LOCAL COMMUNITIES ARE READY TO GIVE AN EXTRA HAND, EVEN IF THEY RECEIVE LIKE LITTLE TOILETRY PACKS THAT THEY FEEL LIKE THAT SOMEBODY UP NORTH IS CARING FOR THEM, PRAYING FOR THEM, WISHING THEM THE BEST IN A REALLY DIFFICULT SITUATION. IN KEENE VALLEY, BENNY NEZAJ, NBC FIVE NEWS. AND WE WANT TO LET YOU KNO
