Christmas night fire destroys Asheboro familys home and kills dog [Video]

WAS HURT. A RANDOLPH COUNTY FAMILY IS LOOKING FOR WHATS NEXT. AFTER A FIRE ON CHRISTMAS NIGHT, BURNED THEIR HOME AND KILLED THEIR FAMILY DOG. KELLY KENDALL MET THE FAMILY TODAY IN ASHEBORO. HOME OWNERS STEVE AND ANGELA HARRELSON SAY THIS SCENE OF DESTRUCTION IS NOT THE HOME THEYVE KNOWN AND LOVED FOR DECADES, BUT THAT ALL CHANGED CHRISTMAS NIGHT AFTER A BUSY DAY OF OPENING PRESENTS WITH THEIR TWO CHILDREN, STEVE AND ANGELA HARRELSON WERE ENJOYING A PEACEFUL CHRISTMAS NIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN AND THE BREAKER FLIPPED AND I WENT TO THE KITCHEN, GOT A FEW FEET INTO THE KITCHEN AND REALIZED WE HAD TOO MUCH SMOKE. WE THOUGHT, WELL, I TURNED AROUND, HOLLERED, WE GOT TO GET THE KIDS, GOT TO GET MOMMA IN LAW. WE GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE. THEY GOT EVERYONE OUT OF THE HOME ON BERTIE ROAD NOW BLAZING WITH FLAMES. BUT ONE OF THEIR DOGS, GUS, STAYED BEHIND. FORTUNATELY, WE IN THE CONFUSION, WE LOST ONE OF OUR PUPS. SO HE GOT SCARED AND HE JUMPED ON THE COUCH AND HID UNER A PILLOW. AND WE THOUGHT HE WAS OUTSIDE. BUT. AND I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE IT WAS THE SEAGROVE FIRE DEPARTMENT THAT FOUND HIM BECAUSE THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO REVIVE HIM. FIVE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS CAME TO PUT OUT THE FLAMES. THE RANDOLPH COUNTY FIRE MARSHAL SAYS THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION AND HAS LEFT THE HOUSE. A TOTAL LOSS FOR STEVE, ITS A LOSS OF 80 YEARS OF FAMILY HISTORY. IT WAS ORIGINALLY MY GRANDMA AND GRANDPAS. THE LAND BELONGED TO MY GREAT GRANDMA AND GRANDPA AND THEN YOUR DAD, THEN DADDY, AND THEN YOUR BROTHER. AND WE MOVED BACK FROM OKLAHOMA AND MOVED IN HERE. AND DESPITE ALL OF IT, THE HARRELSONS SAY THEY ARE GRATEFUL. THE FIRST ONE THAT COMES TO MIND IS DEVASTATION. THAT YOU CANT LOOK AT THAT ITS LOVE AND HOPE, REALLY, BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY HAS COME TOGETHER. THE SCHOOLS, THE EVERYBODY HAS COME TOGETHER, THE FAMILY IS CURRENTLY STAYING AT A HOTEL AND THEY SAY THEYRE THINKING ABOUT NEXT STEPS AS THEY BEGIN TO REBUILD THEIR LIVES. A GOFUNDME HAS BEEN STARTED TO HELP THEM IN THAT PROCESS. YOU CAN FIND THAT LINK BY VISITING WXII 12.COM IN
