Stone Canyon Fire: 100% contained, evacuations lifted [Video]

DENVER (KDVR) — After burning 1,557 acres, destroying five homes and leading to one person’s death, Boulder officials announced Sunday evening that the Stone Canyon Fire was 100% contained.

The Boulder Office of Disaster Management reported that after four days of no growth in the fire’s size, the fire’s true acreage was mapped by Geographic Information System specialists using information from the multi-mission aircraft flight at 30,000 feet.

The fire’s command has been turned over to Boulder County. Information on the fire’s response can be found through the Lyons Fire Protection District.

The fire started Tuesday near Lyons, leading to some evacuations for the town. The evacuations were lifted the day after they were implemented, although some homes did not have electrical service when residents returned.
