Animal lover and pet owner Cheyenne Freezor said, “I’ve moved a lot, so I’ve had to rehome.” Rob Bremer, the director of the St. Tammany Animal Shelter, said this is a common occurrence across the parish, which has contributed to the overcrowding at the shelter he runs. “We see a lot of people having to surrender their animals,” Bremer said, “because their landlord won’t allow it. Or the place they’re moving to won’t allow it. A lot of those things factor in, and, ultimately, affect the population at the local animal shelter.”He put out a plea to the community, and people like Cheyenne have been doing their part to adopt and foster, to take home pets like Toto. “I seen it was all over Facebook that they were going to have to take serious measures because they have too many dogs,” she said. “We’ve adopted from here before.”Bremer said the …
