KANSAS CITY, Kan. (KCTV) – Sporting Club partner Pat Curran has passed.
As part of a founding group of ownership, Curran purchased Sporting KC, Kansas City’s Major League Soccer club, in 2006 and was an active part of that ownership for 19 seasons until his passing announced by his team on October 21.
Sporting Kansas City will honor Curran at Children’s Mercy Park in conjunction with a home match during the 2025 season.
Curran served on the board of numerous companies, including Kansas City-based Applebee’s International.
In his younger years, Curran earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and a BA in Economics from Stanford University.
Curran’s interest in soccer is said to have started watching his kids play while they were growing up.
Curran is survived by his wife Janet, their four children Josephine, Betty Jean, Wiley, and Olivia, and seven grandchildren.
Pat Curran was 80 years young.
