South Fairmount man says thief caught on video robbing his home

CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A man in South Fairmount says he caught a man on security camera video breaking into his house and stealing thousands of dollars in items.

He said his dog was home during the robbery, but wasn’t taken and wasn’t hurt.

Vincent Shelhamer was at work when a burglar broke into his house. The man got in through the front window.

Security camera video from a neighbor’s home showed the man checking out their home and cars. It was the same man Shelhamer captured on his video robbing his house.

One video showed the man reaching into a window to unplug a camera while Shelhamer’s dog was in the room.

Stolen items included TVs, video game systems, power tools and a knife.

‘It’s a nice little family heirloom,” Shelhamer said. “King of like a Bowie knife. He didn’t touch my books and he didn’t touch my dog.”
