SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) — A man shot by San Jose police officers Sunday night is now in the hospital in critical condition.
The incident happened just south of downtown near Sutter and South 1st Streets and was originally called in as a family disturbance.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Sunday and police said during the investigation, the suspect threatened officers with a knife and one officer shot the suspect.
That’s when the suspect somehow barricaded himself back inside of a home off Sutter Street.
While it’s not clear how long the standoff lasted, police said the suspect was “eventually taken into custody.” There was a police presence at the scene through Monday morning.
According to our last update from police around 10 a.m. Monday, the suspect was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
He is still in critical condition as of last check.
No officers were injured during the incident.
