S10 live in Atmore: Strand Theatre [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Pride of Atmore volunteer, Dale Ash says the Strand Theatre is 100 years old and closed in 2013.

She says Pride of Atmore, a non-profit made up of volunteers, purchased the building in 2014 and started what became a 10-year process of fundraising and restoration.

Thanks to a grant, Ash says the building next to the theater, a former hardware store, was also purchased and is now used as an event venue space and much more. The upstairs is also used for various types of classrooms, camps, and includes a computer lab.

Thanks to generous donations made by the community, fundraising, and grants, Ash says the Strand Theater and Encore now offer many events and classes to residents in the City of Atmore.
