Rome-made t-shirts recall tornado that changed the city [Video]

It’s been about a month since an EF2-level tornado ripped through the city of Rome, destroying buildings, businesses and homes. Residents are coming together to pick up the pieces, and that includes a woman and her mother, who found a unique way to help.

Alisha Russell is a new business owner of Alisha’s and TT’s Creative Creations. With help from her mom, they designed a variety of items, including cups, key chains and ink pins.

Recently, they started making t-shirts.

“So we went and bought shirts, we did the design and printed out the pictures,” Russell said. “We made them and brought them to City Hall and ended up in the mayor’s hands. And that was pretty cool.”

The tornado that hit Rome caused a lot of damage, including to a historical commercial building built in 1868 with a well-known Revolutionary War Mural painted almost 25 years ago by artist Jane Grace Taylor.
