Planned outage in Flint postponed, but residents question notification process | Local [Video]

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) – Power will remain on for over 3,500 customers Friday night, after a planned outage by Consumers Energy was postponed Friday morning.

It comes after some residents raised concerns that the outage, which was set to begin near midnight Friday and last for 6 hours, would leave customers in the dark during the coldest part of the night.

“At a time when so many are already in homes that have roofing issues and window issues […], we have to make sure that we schedule any impact and outages for times that lessen the impact on our residents,” said Genesee County Commissioner Delrico Loyd.

Loyd says his office no idea the outage was happening until he heard from residents. That’s when he sprung into action to work to get the outage postponed.
