One of the stranger and more in-depth quarterback competitions is going on out in New England. Entering the final preseason game for New England, the team doesn’t have things settled on who the starting quarterback will be for the regular season.

Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said that veteran Jacoby Brissett will start the final preseason game against the Washington Commanders but that rookie Drake Maye will still play. Nothing is concluded and the battle continues on for who will suit up in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported the news on social media.
With Brissett starting the final game for New England, it’s a likely sign that he will ultimately be the guy tabbed to start. For the majority of camp, Brissett has been the presumed starter due to his experience over Maye.
