Paris Olympics athletes return home; NAPLAN 2024 results released; gambling ad ban reversal bid launched by TV networks [Video]

Police were called to Tuesday night’s meeting of the Inner West Council in Sydney after pro-Palestine protesters shouted down and abused Labor councillors as they opposed a motion calling for the council to boycott companies linked to Israel.

As the Labor majority voted, members of the gallery shouted “what a f—ing joke”, “how can you sleep at night” and “the Labor Party is a pro-Holocaust party”, among many other statements.

The meeting was disbanded just before 11pm – when it would normally end – with only one substantive item of local business voted on after five hours. Police later escorted councillors from the building to their cars.
