Our Town Belle Plaine: Henry B. Tippie [Video]

BELLE PLAINE, Iowa (KCRG) – Belle Plaine is home to a museum that tells the life story of a well-known Iowa entrepreneur, Henry B. Tippie.

Tippie was born and raised on a farm in Belle Plaine. After graduating from the University of Iowa, he found success in business through his work with the company now known as Rollins, Inc. Part of that includes the purchase of Orkin Exterminating Company, one of the first large leveraged buyouts of its kind in U.S. corporate history.

Tippie passed away in 2022, but his memory and legacy lives on in Belle Plaine.

“Henry and Patricia Tippie have been an enormous blessing to this community. They’re family. They never forgot where he came from. They helped do countless projects across this community and in our whole region, innumerable, from Kirkwood, to our airport to the library, this museum,” says City Administer Stephen Beck.
