NWS confirms 8 tornadoes from Slidell into Hancock County Mississippi [Video]

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The National Weather Service continues to analyze the severe weather outbreak on Wednesday, April 10 and has now confirmed at least 8 tornadoes formed in St. Tammany Parish and Hancock County, Mississippi.

The most extensive damage was associated with an EF-2 tornado that tracked from near Eden Isle, through Slidell and eventually dissipated as it crossed I-10 near the Louisiana/Mississippi state line. Multiple homes and businesses were destroyed by this tornado which had winds as high as 120 mph and was on the ground for over 11 miles.

Other tornadoes include three EF-1′s in St. Tammany causing damage to North Slidell near I-12, Alton and Pearl River. The maximum winds associated with these tornadoes was between 90 – 100 mph.

In Hancock County, Mississippi multiple tornadoes were confirmed. Some of the tornado paths from Slidell and Pearl River ended up moving into the Stennis complex. A …
