NORTHFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — After a hail storm destroyed all of his crops last week, a Northford farmer is seeking assistance from national lawmakers.
Northford farms, homes hit hard by Monday evening storms
Will Dellacamera, owner of Cecarellis Harrison Hill farm, said that none of his crops are able to be harvested this year, a “devastating” blow to his business.
“The state won’t stand up for us when we’re in disaster,” Dellacamera said. “Farmers asked for uit last year, and they got nothing.”
Dellacamera said that just a little money from the state could help farmers pay off their workers for the rest of the year and help them afford bills.
He also plans on going to Washington, D.C. to inquire about simplifying the insurance process for farmers, which he says is “harder than doing taxes.”
He will be petitioning and gaining support from community members to take down to Washington.
