Newly re-elected longtime Cass County Commissioner dies [Video]

PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. (WOWT) – Nearly two months after he was re-elected, longtime Cass County Commissioner Dale Sharp has died.

According to the Roby Funeral Home obituary, Sharp died on Sunday at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was 78.

Sharp, who represented Cass County Dist. 1, had served as a commissioner for many years, from 1984 to 1996, and then again from 2016 until his death.

According to his bio on the county’s website, he was self-employed, working in metal fabrication and machinery installation.

“Dale Sharp, husband, father, grandfather, …compadre. He will be truly missed by many. Although we didn’t agree all the time, I looked to him to make the right decision. He truly had my respect,” Dist. 5 Commissioner Duane Murdoch told the Cassgram.

Services for Sharp are planned for later this month. Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 …
