TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) – Amazon’s newest local facility is gearing up for the holiday shopping rush, offering same-day delivery of high-turnover items and last-minute gifts.
The facility, which opened in September, operates 23 hours daily, and approximately 300 employees handle everything from item picking to packaging and shipment organization.
“Those things that you think about as you’re driving to work in the morning and you want it to be on your porch when you get home, you don’t want to stop on the way home. We have those items in this building,” said Nate Beeman, site leader at Amazon SAZ3.
The facility can deliver up to 35,000 packages daily, with a significant portion coming from local businesses. Amazon spokesperson Zoe Richmond highlighted that more than 60% of items sold on the platform come from small and mid-sized companies, including Arizona-based products like “the comfy” from Shark Tank.
