Nebraska softball holds January practice outside ahead of 2025 season [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Husker Softball held a rare outdoor January practice on Thursday afternoon due to warmer temps in Lincoln. Nebraska practiced at the brand new Sandhills Global Youth Complex off of Cornhusker Highway.

“The fact that we got to play a full 7 innings today… in the middle of January especially when we open up 3 weeks from today… it was big,” Head Coach Rhonda Revelle said.

Nebraska is ranked 21st ahead of the 2025 season and have high expectations from fans. The Huskers open the season in Clearwater, Florida, versus Tennessee on February 6. The team’s home-opener is not until one month later when Nebraska hosts Northern Colorado.

Expectations are high for the Huskers after narrowly missing the NCAA Tournament in 2024. The team adds a notable transfer class and sees Jordy Bahl return to the circle after missing the 2024 season due to an injury suffered in the very first game of 2024.
